Andy Warhol
Andy Warhol was born August 6, 1928.
Throughout his childhood his mother gave him art lessons. Warhol contracted
Sydenham Chorea, a disease often fatal. It causes the body to move
unpredictably. He received his first
camera at age nine. Later on he attended Carnegie Institute of Technology where
he received higher education. In the 1950's Warhol moved to New York City.
During this decade he worked with Glamour Magazine. Throughout the 1960's he
worked in his studio, called the Factory. He did famous work with Campbell’s
soup can, and created celebrity portraits using silk screening. In the 70's he co-founded Interview Magazine. The content dealt with film, fashion, and pop
culture. Along with the magazine he commissioned portraits for people. In the
1980's he modeled, worked for television. He died February 22, 1987 during a routine
gull bladder surgery.
